Profile
Growing up in south of Italy, in and around the water, Valerio Pandolfi developed his photography and diving skills in the Mediterranean Sea. Fascinated by the Ocean, he hit the road and started traveling to the most pristine and remote Seas of the Planet: the Galàpagos Islands, Australia, the Socorro Islands, the Red Sea, the Maldives, the Seychelles Islands, South Africa, Hawaii and numerous locations in Polinesia and the Carribean. Author and photographer, Valerio is able to capture emotions with inspiring photographs and captivating words that tell unique stories about the Ocean. In 2009, with his first book, “The voice of the Ocean”, he won the significant Literary Price “Città di Gaeta – International Travel and Adventure Literature Award”. In 2012 he published his second book “L’Oceano dentro – esplorare gli abissi per trovare se stessi” and in 2015 the English version of his second book, “The Ocean Within – Exploring the Deep to Find Yourself”.
The Maui Ocean Center in Maui, Hawaii, displays his work.
“I consider myself a soul diver. To escape from the frenetic rhythms of modern life, I dive, gently gliding into the blue, and in that silence I listen to the voice of the Ocean, learning every time a new lesson. Immersed in that primordial dimension, I find myself, feeling an authentic sense of peace, freedom and harmony with Nature.”
